In Pregnancy, every woman want everything going to be normal and healthy. The

problem for the pregnancy. For new pregnancy, some woman still doing they dialy
activities, depend of what the activity, this could make some problem. The third

are also some complications for pregnancy woman for higher rist for preterm
birth:

- Previous miscarriages or abortions
- Infections
If pregnant woman develop a high-risk complication and signs of possible pre-term
labor, such as a dilated cervix, your doctor may request that you stay in bed.
The bed rest can be ‘partial’, it mean you need to spend part of
each day laying down and resting. You would need to reduce the activities and
take it easy. Or bed rest can be ‘complete‘, it mean you need to
be laying down at bed for all times. The complete bed rest can even mean hospitalization
but this also can be done at home. Your doctors also will recommend total, therapeutic
bed rest, because it has several specific benefits.
Total bed rest decreases pressure of baby on the cervix and reduces cervical
stretching, which may cause premature contractions and miscarriage. It also
increases blood flow for the placenta, helping the baby receive the maximum
nutrition and oxygen possible. This is particularly important if the baby is
not growing as rapidly as should be. Bed rest can sometimes result in improved
blood pressure and decreased swelling. Laying down, particularly on your left
side, improves blood circulation to your heart, uterus and to your baby.
Kind of Bed Rest
There are several kind and gradation degrees of bed rest type, so it is important
to know what your practitioner means by bed rest
- A decrease in your activities. This might mean taking a
break from exercising or sex for a few weeks.
- Taking a break. With this type of bed rest, women need
to be able to sit down and rest. This might involve taking a leave from work
or getting backup help with the care of children at home.
- A few hours of bed rest each day. Resting on your side
increases the blood flow to the placenta, which may be beneficial if a baby
isn't growing well.
- "House arrest". A stricter type of bed rest,
where women are essentially confined to the home, with activities limited
to puttering around and mostly resting. I call this level of bed rest "house
arrest."
- Strict bed rest is prescribed in some cases, which essentially
means lying down all day. Getting up might be limited to going to the bathroom,
taking a shower, and preparing a simple meal. The strictest forms of bed rest
are usually done in the hospital, with a bedpan instead of bathroom privileges
and all personal care provided by the hospital staff.
While bed rest, your muscles will lose tone and your joints may begin to ache.
Try to change position, from one side to the other, every hour or two. This
will decrease discomfort in your hips and lower back. You may find it make more
comfortable using pillows to support the abdomen, back, head and shoulders.
Do not lie flat on your back, except for short stretches to ease cramped muscles.
Limited the exercise in bed also will help your muscle tone and circulation,
but do not start doing sit-ups or stretches before talk and discuss with your
doctor.
Whether you are restricted to bed rest at home or in the hospital, you should
arrange your room so that all of your necessities are within arm’s length.
If at home, set up one room where you can rest undisturbed for as long as you
are restricted or confined to your bed. Organize everyday necessities within
reach as well as amenities that will keep you occupied and help make your days
more pleasant.
This is a good time to catch up on letters, reading or putting your photos
into albums. Take up a hobby such as knitting, embroidery, or drawing. Organizing
a daily schedule , without being too rigid, may also help you feel better psychologically
and physically. Divide each day into scheduled periods: a time for telephoning
your office, speaking to friends or relatives, reading, watching television,
paying bills, and being with your other children. Take pictures and keep a diary,
because someday you’ll want to retell the story of this incredible pregnancy
when your baby is old enough to understand.
